Wilshire Blvd. extends fifteen miles, from Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica, all the way up to the financial district of downtown Los Angeles. Freckled with bakeries, butchers, smoothie shops and even a beachside park, it’s one of the most densely developed arteries in the city. Here are some of our favorite spots to visit when we’re strolling Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica.
Put an Egg on it at Huckleberry
Huckleberry has been a Santa Monica staple since opening in 2009. Owner Zoe Nathan and chef Erin Eastland worked together to create the perfect neighborhood pastry shop and breakfast joint. Check out their delicious signature dishes, like the fried egg sandwich with sunny-side up egg, the brisket hash, and Zoe’s special maple bacon biscuits. Huckleberry: 1014 Wilshire Blvd.; 310-319-3111
Take the Kids to Douglas Park
We love Douglas Park for its palm-tree studded playground, lawn bowling green, and fly fishing area. If the kids are looking for a little break between shopping and munching, Douglas should be your go-to.
Brunch on Bacon & Brioche French Toast at Belcampo
Belcampo Restaurant and Butcher Shop is one of the best foodie experiences in Santa Monica. Serving rustic, meaty mains and craft cocktails, this is a great spot to put your Saturday morning hangover to bed. We love the bacon and brioche french toast—served with bacon steak, crème fraîche, toasted hazelnuts, and without a single side of regret. Belcampo Restaurant & Butcher Shop.: 1026 Wilshire Blvd.; 424-744-8008.
Catch a Sunset at Palisades Park
Located on Wilshire Boulevard’s beach-side edge, Palisades Park is the ideal spot to catch a stunning California sunset. Enjoy its many walking paths, lush trees and rose garden after a long afternoon of shopping and snacking on the strip.
